Next we took a canal boat toir and ended up at Nyhavn (New Harbour) the fishermans wharf of Copenhagen. Very cool place with tons of restaurants.
Nyhavn
We also visited Magasin, the high end department store thar my Uncle Jon used to manage in Copenhagen. Jon said he spent many years working there and I remember when I was 9 coming to visit and going to the store at Christmas time. It was beautiful!
Next we rented a minivan and headed off the the island of Fyn, which is 1.5 hours away and across a several mile long bridge. Spectacular!Erik and Haley where given the task of navigation using the old tried & true map method. We can't use our cell phones to do google maps ant there is no navigation system in the car. All I had was an address with a street name no one could pronounce. Amazingly, my smart kiddos got us to the (very) town of Somderso and because Amy had to pee, we pulled into a small gas station which ended up being closed. I asked the only person I saw sitting in a chair at a small restaurant next door and he just happened to speak English and know the street we were looking for. Wow! 5 minutes later we were at Nicole & Nikklas's house. My cousins Steven and Jeanette wee there too. Perfect timing! After introductions, catching up and a light dinner, we owed Nikklas and Steven to the store to get food for the beach house and drove 20 north to Otterup on the North shore of Fyn. It is a secluded community with a private beach and about as beautiful and peaceful as it gets. We walked 200 yards to the sand and watched the sun set at 10:30pm. Yes, due to the latitude and time of year, the sun rises at 4:00am and sets at 10:30. Talk about your long summer days. After Steven and Nikklas left, Haley made us an amazing pasta and veggies dinner and we all bit the sack at 12:00 am. Tomorrow we sleep in and chill out at the beach! Can't wait. What a day!!
More pictures if family & Dyn to follow tomorrow!!
